Sarah Connolly is the microbiologist on the RESTART project. She studied Genetics and Cell Biology in DCU, graduating with a BSc (Hons) in 2024.

Sarah’s role involves optimising the second module of the sensor, the culture-based method. She is developing a custom growth media for E. coli detection through the addition of fluorogenic substrates and inducers. She is also optimising the growth conditions of E. coli to achieve a shorter detection time. In Sarah’s free time she enjoys baking and walking her dogs.
