Karthika is a Research assistant at the School of Biotechnology, Dublin City
University [DCU] working in the microbiology module of CS Sentinel.

She completed MSc in Biotechnology from University College Dublin [UCD] in 2019
where her research focus was on monitoring faecal indicator bacterial levels in
Donabate and Portrane beach sites. During her PhD, Karthika worked on upcycling
mixed plastic waste to a biodegradable polymer using bacterial consortia using
genetic engineering, adaptive laboratory evolution and various types of
fermentations at different scales.

Outside work, Karthika enjoys rock climbing.
