Ciprian is a research fellow in the DCU Water Institute in Dublin City University. He is the co-developer of the ColiSense system: a rapid on-site test kit for E. coli detection and quantification in environmental water bodies. As a technical expert Ciprian has co-led multiple research projects including EXEMPLAR and the A-WaMS projects focused on rapid technology development and market transfer via rapid prototyping and pilot scale testing. Ciprian’s main research interest is the use of sensors for environmental monitoring (water, air and soil) and how we can use high resolution data to support decision-making. To that end he has been part of multiple research projects focused on sensor design & development, operational assessment of technology in the intended environment and validation. His expertise includes: analytical and bioanalytical chemistry, sensor design, prototyping and testing, optical detection, and environmental monitoring.
